Arkansas Tech University-Ozark PTA Program Overview
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus offers an Associate degree designed to prepare students for entry-level employment as PTAs. This rigorous, full-time program combines classroom theory with hands-on lab practice and clinical experiences in real healthcare settings across the River Valley region. Students complete approximately 30-36 hours per week of coursework, labs, and fieldwork—excluding study time—so outside courses are discouraged during enrollment.
The curriculum covers essential PTA skills such as therapeutic modalities, patient documentation, balance assessments, wound care, transfer techniques, gait training, wheelchair mobility and measurements. Students gain experience working directly with patients under supervision during up to 40-hour-per-week clinical rotations in local facilities like Johnson Regional Medical Center and Ozark Physical Therapy in Clinton.
Over the past three years,ATU-Ozark boasts a 100% job placement rate within six months of licensure—a testament to its strong reputation among area employers. The associate degree requires completion of both general education requirements and specialized PTA courses; detailed timelines are available on their website.
In-state tuition is extended to residents of bordering states including Oklahoma and Missouri.Financial aid is available for those who qualify—including AR Futures grants that may fully cover costs—and estimated fees can be calculated online.
Applications open each fall (October–March), with TEAS testing required for admission consideration.
Located just off I-40 in Ozark’s scenic Franklin County community near the Arkansas River Valley wine country,
