The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at Connecticut State Community College Norwalk offers a rigorous, hands-on pathway to a rewarding career in health care. This CAPTE-accredited associate degree program can be completed in just over two years and is designed for students who want to make a tangible difference in patients’ lives while working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Students complete both general education requirements—such as anatomy & physiology, English composition, psychology—and specialized PTA courses covering kinesiology, therapeutic exercise, pathophysiology, and clinical skills. Admission is selective; applicants must meet prerequisites including biology (with lab), statistics, English composition, and math placement. Up to 30 students are accepted per cohort each fall. Graduates receive an Associate of Science degree and are eligible to sit for the National Physical Therapy Exam required for licensure in Connecticut.
