Elgin Community College PTA Program Overview

Elgin Community College (ECC), located in Elgin, Illinois, offers a highly respected Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program that can be completed in just two years (five semesters). Students earn an Associate of Applied Science degree after completing 71-74 credit hours, which includes both classroom and lab work as well as three hands-on clinical rotations at local partner clinics. ECC’s state-of-the-art facilities provide students with access to the latest equipment used in real-world physical therapy settings.
The PTA curriculum covers anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, neuroscience, communication skills, ethics, and behavioral sciences. About 75% of coursework is didactic or lab-based; the remaining 25% focuses on supervised clinical education—giving students vital experience before graduation.
