Nebraska Methodist College PTA Program Overview
Nebraska Methodist College’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Associate’s Degree program in Omaha offers a hands-on, student-focused pathway to a rewarding healthcare career. This CAPTE-accredited program can be completed in just 21 months and requires at least 75 credit hours, combining classroom learning with 710 hours of supervised clinical experience across the Omaha metro area and nearby communities. Clinical sites include hospitals, outpatient clinics, schools, home health agencies, and long-term care facilities—giving students exposure to diverse patient populations.
The curriculum is designed for visual and hands-on learners. Courses cover anatomy, therapeutic exercise, orthopedics, neurology, medical ethics/law, communication (including Healthcare Spanish or American Sign Language), psychology or lifespan development—and more. Students use state-of-the-art equipment while developing skills such as gait training and administering modalities like ultrasound.
NMC stands out for its personalized support: faculty are experienced clinicians committed to student success from enrollment through graduation—and beyond. Over the last decade NMC graduates have achieved an impressive 100% pass rate on the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE). Graduates also earn an additional free certification that boosts their marketability.
With tuition currently set at $623 per credit hour plus fees (scholarships and financial aid available), this degree prepares you for immediate employment or transfer into bachelor’s programs. The median annual salary for PTAs was $64,080 nationally in May 2023; job growth is projected at a robust 19% over the next decade—a strong outlook locally as well as nationwide.
