St Catherine University PTA Program Overview
St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota offers a well-established Hybrid Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program designed for students seeking to enter this rewarding healthcare field. The PTA associate degree can be completed in as little as 19 months, using a flexible hybrid format that combines online coursework with essential in-person labs and clinical experiences throughout the Twin Cities area and beyond.
The curriculum provides foundational knowledge in physical therapy concepts and techniques, while also emphasizing liberal arts courses—these may be taken before or alongside core PTA classes. Students move through the program together as part of a cohort model, building strong peer connections along the way.
Tuition is set at $750 per credit for the 2025–2026 academic year; most College for Adults students receive some form of financial aid to help offset costs. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE), leading to licensure as a PTA—a profession currently experiencing strong demand both locally and nationally.
Unique to St. Kate’s is its collaborative environment: PTA and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students learn side-by-side via joint labs, service-learning projects, and co-curricular activities on campus. As one of the first programs of its kind nationwide—and rooted within Minnesota’s only Catholic university primarily dedicated to women—St. Kate’s blends tradition with innovation right here in vibrant St. Paul, preparing graduates not just for jobs but meaningful careers serving their communities.
