Arapahoe Community College PTA Program Overview
Arapahoe Community College (ACC) offers a well-established, CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program that prepares students for rewarding careers in healthcare. The program awards an Associate of Applied Science degree after five semesters, including a summer term, and requires completion of 75-77 credit hours spanning general education and specialized PTA coursework.
Unique to ACC is its dual-campus structure: fall cohorts are based at the Littleton campus while spring cohorts (in odd years) meet at the Sturm Collaboration Campus in Castle Rock—both easily accessible from metro Denver suburbs. Application windows open each April for fall admission; applicants must submit transcripts, recommendation letters, test scores, and answer an essay prompt about PT specialty areas.
The curriculum covers anatomy, kinesiology, therapeutic exercise techniques, patient care skills, rehabilitation principles and three clinical internships. Students learn hands-on skills essential for treating patients with musculoskeletal or neurological disorders under the supervision of licensed physical therapists.
In-state tuition is approximately $14,020 total over two years ($44K out-of-state), plus fees and materials. While no PTA-specific scholarships exist through ACC currently, federal aid may be available. Graduates consistently achieve high pass rates on licensure exams required by Colorado’s State Physical Therapy Board—and most other states—with strong job prospects locally due to growing demand in clinics and hospitals throughout Douglas County and greater Denver.
