Pueblo Community College PTA Program Overview
Pueblo Community College (PCC) offers an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at its main campus in Pueblo, Colorado. The PTA program awards an Associate of Applied Science degree and requires 75 credit hours completed over five semesters. Courses combine lecture, interactive labs with state-of-the-art equipment, and two full-time clinical experiences typically located throughout southern Colorado—providing students with hands-on training close to home.
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 and are strongly encouraged to complete science prerequisites like PHY 1105 and BIO 1004 or BIO 2101 before starting the core curriculum. Admission is competitive, with applications accepted from November through May each year.
Unique to PCC’s PTA program is the experienced faculty—boasting more than four decades in physical therapy practice across specialties such as orthopedic, neurological, pediatric rehab, manual therapy, modalities, and therapeutic exercise—as well as a strong track record for student outcomes: recent graduation rates average above 80%, employment rates are consistently at 100%, and national exam pass rates approach perfection.
Estimated tuition costs align with other Colorado community colleges; financial aid options include scholarships and payment plans. Graduates enjoy excellent job prospects locally due to high demand for PTAs in healthcare settings throughout southern Colorado. Note: All health programs require drug screening per federal guidelines—even though marijuana is legal in Colorado—and licensure requirements may vary by state outside of Colorado.
