Oklahoma City Community College PTA Program Overview

Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) offers a well-respected Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program through its Division of Health Professions. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), ensuring students receive high-quality, industry-recognized training. Upon completion of this two-year, 68-credit hour curriculum, graduates earn an Associate in Applied Science degree and are eligible to sit for the National Board Exam required for licensure as a PTA in Oklahoma.
Admission is competitive—about 20 students are selected each fall from roughly 70 applicants. Students must complete Human Anatomy and Physiology I before beginning the core sequence. Coursework blends classroom instruction with hands-on lab work and clinical experiences at local sites within approximately 30 miles of campus, giving students exposure to real-world healthcare settings like hospitals, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, and schools.

Recent OCCC outcomes are impressive: nearly 90% graduation rates over two years; a perfect first-time board exam pass rate for recent classes; and employment rates near or above 97%. Starting salaries range from $54,020–$66,754 locally

Tuition costs vary yearly but remain affordable compared to many programs statewide; financial aid is available. Unique requirements include liability insurance, background checks, drug screening, immunizations—and strong community partnerships provide excellent networking opportunities across metro Oklahoma City’s vibrant health sector. For more information or application details visit OCCC’s website or contact their Health Professions division directly at ((405) 682-7507.)
